Ordering a Bare-Metal Server

In stock or built to order
Each bare-metal configuration is listed per location as either in stock or built to order.
- In stock: the server is installed after payment and is usually ready within minutes.
- Built to order: we source the server for you. The listing and the order page show the delivery date before you pay, counted in business days (Monday to Friday). Lisbon is currently about 10 business days and Lagos about 15.
How a built-to-order order works
- Place the order. You can add a note (up to 1,000 characters) with a deadline or an installation wish.
- Confirmation. Most orders are confirmed at once, with the invoice and the delivery date. Orders with a note, a first large order on a new account, and some locations are confirmed by a person within one business day; you receive an "order received" email in the meantime. Nothing is charged until the order is confirmed.
- Payment. Pay the invoice from your dashboard. It covers your first month. We order the hardware only once it is paid. An unpaid confirmed order expires after seven days.
- Build and handover. We email you when the server is installed and handed over. Your billing period, your renewal date and the twelve-month minimum term all start on the handover day, not on the day you paid.
- If the date slips, we email you once with a new date. Billing still starts only at handover.
Cancelling a built-to-order order
Use Cancel order on the server's page.
- Before payment: free, nothing is charged, and any invoice is cancelled.
- After payment, before we have ordered the hardware: cancelled and refunded in full to your account balance.
- Once the hardware is ordered: the order can no longer be cancelled for a refund, and the twelve-month term applies from handover.
Access after handover
Log in with the SSH key you chose at order. If you chose a one-time root password instead, it is shown on the server's page in your dashboard; it is never sent by email, and you must change it at first login.
Backups
Automated VPS backups do not apply to bare metal. Backup storage for a bare-metal server is a separate add-on: open the server's page and choose Add backup storage. It cannot be selected at checkout.
