Overview
You can reinstall your VPS operating system at any time through the Control Panel. This is useful if you want to start fresh, switch distributions, or recover from a misconfiguration.
Warning: Reinstalling the OS will permanently erase all data on your server. Ensure you have backed up any important files before proceeding.
Available Operating Systems
AFRICLOUD supports the following Linux distributions:
- Ubuntu (LTS versions)
- Debian
- AlmaLinux
- Rocky Linux
- CentOS
- Fedora
- openSUSE
- Oracle Linux
How to Reinstall
- Log in to your Client Area
- Navigate to Services > My Services
- Click on your VPS and open the Control Panel
- Locate the Reinstall or Rebuild option
- Select your desired operating system and version
- Confirm the reinstallation
What Happens During Reinstall
- All existing data is erased
- A fresh OS image is deployed
- A new root password is generated
- Your IP address remains the same
- The process typically completes within 2-5 minutes
After Reinstallation
Once complete:
- Note your new root password from the Control Panel
- Connect via SSH using the new credentials
- Update the system:
apt update && apt upgrade -y(Ubuntu/Debian) ordnf update -y(RHEL-based) - Configure your firewall and security settings
Custom ISO
If you need an operating system not listed, you may be able to mount a custom ISO. Contact support for assistance.
